Book Recommendation: Brewing in Kent by Johnny Homer
In case I haven't said in a bit, I'm from Kent and I'm a proud Woman of Kent :-).
I found this book while searching for something else online at my local library (support your libraries y'all!) and ended up buying my own copy to have at home. I also thought when I first saw the title it was only going to be about historical breweries.
I was wrong! This book spans the many years of brewing in Kent, including some very new breweries (relatively) and showcases what they are doing now and their innovations. It is sectioned by area North, South, East and West Kent and goes through each's history in turn.
I read it cover to cover in a couple of days. Finding the background to Barclay Perkins, Shepherd Neame and Mackeson's Stout was really interesting to me.
Brewing is so important to Kent and has left its legacy here and it's important to remember how that came to be. I need to get Brewing in London next!
