Hops: Motueka

Motueka is a well know New Zealand hop, formally known as Belgian Saaz or B Saaz. It can be used for both bittering and aroma, so it a duel purpose hop. It was bred by crossing a selection of New Zealand varieties with Saaz varieties.

Motueka starts with bright lemon and lime notes. It lends an enticing tropical fruit aroma which carries through to the flavour paired with the citrus notes. It works well in sweet, malty and fruity beers. It can be added early in the brewing process to produce a smooth bitterness in beers.
