Breweries I love: Gadd’s The Ramsgate Brewery

Gadd's The Ramsgate Brewery, Ramsgate, Kent, UK

Gadd's is a staple here is East Kent and they are so supportive of small brewers, the local beer industry and the local community. I've toured the brewery before and Eddie Gadd is so knowledgeable and shares this freely. I particularly enjoy his love of green hopped beer and explaining how the brewery makes it happen every year.

The brewery is a fundamental part of the collection of brewers that make the Kent Green Hop Beer Festival happen each year. Gadd's brew a selection of traditional real ales, a low alcohol offering in Gadd's No. 11 and seasonal favourites like Dr Sunshine's Special Friendly.

My personal favourite is Black Pearl, a stout which is great on nitro, and it makes a great stout chocolate cake. They have brewed beers with comedian Al Murray and for POW! Thanet (Power of Women) which is a charity celebrating and exploring issues around Feminism, Women and Girls. They have even collaborated with Pohjala from Estonia on the Citizens of Everywhere project.

If you are in Kent you need to get a pint of Gadd's No. 7 for a truly traditional experience.
