Glassware - The Teku

Glassware is very important for the best tasting experience. You should always decant your beer to allow the beer to open up so you can get all of the aromas and flavours.

The Teku Glass

The Teku glass is an excellent one to have in your collection. It is my personal favourite glass for drinking at home.

This glass has a rounded bottom for stability because they are quite top heavy. They've got a nice long thin stem which allows you to hold the glass without warming the beer with the heat from your hand.

A teku has a bowled shape at the bottom but they have more of a sharp edge than a snifter or a tulip. This is also true of the taper at the top of the glass. This shape opens up the flavours around the middle in the bowl part and then the tapered top captures the aromas and flavours.

The teku glass is perfect for tasting beers and allowing your senses to pick up all the elements we look for. Many breweries offer these with their branding on, so consider having several in your collection for each of your favourite ones!

When tasting beer it’s a good idea to keep you notes organised. I’ve created a handy tasting sheet to help you do just that. Download it for free here.
