What is the best alcohol free beer? A Woman’s Brew: The Podcast Ep 018
It’s the beginning of a new year and we all know what that means! We all try to be more healthy and want to try new things, which is where Dry January comes in! The low and no alcohol beer scene has grown in the last year or two, meaning that there is now an alcohol free beer for everyone. But, what is the best alcohol free beer? Tori and I decided to take this on in the latest episode of A Woman’s Brew: The Podcast, so you don’t have to!
We tried to get a variety of styles in our non alcoholic beer selection. We also wanted to try a selection of brewers so this is what we got:
Lucky Saint lager
Mikkeller Drinkin’ In The Sun wheat beer
Lervig No Worries pale ale
Big Drop Galactic milk stout
Nirvana Classic IPA
Big Drop Firesider pumpkin spiced ale
Omnipollo Blabars Soppa blueberry pale ale
Hammerton Crunch AF
With this selection we covered pale beers, stouts, fruit beers and even a lager. As you can see there really is an alcohol free beer for everyone now!
I think it really depends on what beers you like in their alcoholic versions, but you might be pleasantly surprised by some of these.
From our selection you can also see that some of the well known breweries, like Lervig, Mikkeller and Omnipollo are all getting in on the alcohol free action. But do they stand up to their alcoholic versions? What is the best alcohol free beer?
Big Drop are a big player in the alcohol free scene - I enjoyed their milk stout, though it is a little thin. This seems to be a recurring theme with alcohol free beers, even when they use lactose to help with the mouthfeel. Omnipollo was the only beer I didn’t feel this with, but that may have been because of the addition of fruit.
What were our favourites? Well, you will just have to listen to find that out! But I can say, the best alcohol free beer is a crispy boi!
