5 Beer Baking & Cooking Recipes You Can Use For The Holidays

I don’t know about you, but food plays a massive part in the holiday plans at our house.  There has to be at least one full roast (probably 2 if not 3) and there is always tea time – not just cold meats and picky bits, but also a second chance for pudding!

So along with your festive beers, why not have some dishes that use the excellent beers from your stash to lift them as well?

Here are 5 of my fave cooking and baking with beer recipes from my blog – bon appetite!

1. Chocolate Stout Cake

A classic for baking with beer is the chocolate stout cake.  I like to use a Christmas Tree mould at this time of year to make it even more festive.  Think outside of the box with your stout choice too – why not go for something barrel aged or spiced?

2. Beer Brined Chicken

To be honest, you can beer brine any meat.  I used this recipe on beef and it would work equally well with turkey.  You can even do a variation for pork with a lime-based beer and spices for a kick.

3. Pumpkin Spice Stout Cookies

Don’t be put off by the pumpkin spice!  I’ve also made this recipe with a regular stout or porter and just skip the addition of spices.  You could also use ginger beer to create a spin on gingerbread!  These are great for taking to parties and get-togethers over the festive period (while we are allowed anyway!)

4. Beer Pizza Dough

Looking for something to do with those left overs?  Why not make a Boxing Day pizza with this delicious beer pizza dough base?  I think a pilsner works really well in this, but you can also use anything malty like a Vienna lager, an amber ale or a porter.

5. A Show Stopping Beeramisu

I love tiramisu, I love brownies, I love beer, I love coffee…. This is the marriage of all those things!  Creamy layers of mascarpone with lush beer brownie soaked in boozy beer – what more could you want?  This would make a great dessert to finish off a decadent meal or to show off at your in-laws!

BONUS POST – are you more of a savoury person?  Is a cheese board for dessert your kind of heaven?  I’ve got you!  Here’s my post on beer and cheese pairing with some pairing suggestions as well as tips to create your own combinations.  Delicious!
